More About (the) Websmithian

Ian W. BowdenBased in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada, I consult and work with clients throughout the world. More than just someone that designs and builds high-performing websites, Websmithian adds considerable consultation, knowledge, and expertise to every project I undertake.

As you might have gathered from the home page, I’m all about designing and building a website that will actually work for you, not just look good. Websites that make people go “ooh” and “ahh” are super and I can most certainly make one of those for you.

But good website design is more than just giving its visitors some aesthetic pleasure through great graphics and visual design. It’s about designing and creating an online machine that:

  • Immediately let’s your visitor know that they’ve come to the right place.
  • Helps that visitor through a self-guided experience that engages and informs them.
  • Keeps them interested enough to explore further and learn.
  • Commits them to act somehow in a way that you want them to. This could be placing an order, submitting an enquiry, or immediately phoning you.

No matter what your product or service, you need a website that does all of these things. If it doesn’t, like a poorly-performing employee, you’ve gotta let it go.

And how do you know that it’s actually doing what it’s supposed to? You might be happy with getting ten product orders through your website each day. But if you’re averaging 200 visitors, that means 95% of them are bouncing! Do you currently know how many unique visitors you’re getting each day to your website? Do you know where they land and what pages they’re most likely to check out? A website with good back-end analytical tools will tell you this and a lot more. I know these tools can be difficult to set up and configure and will get them going for you.

Whether you’ve got a need for a brand-new website for a fledgling enterprise or your current website looks as if it was built in the last millennium – I can help.

And if you haven’t figured it out by now, the word Websmithian is a compound word (like doghouse or sunflower), comprised of the words “websmith” and “Ian.”
